HIFU CLINICAL TRIALS
There are currently ongoing clinical trials in the United
States and other countries which are separately testing the
Ablatherm and the
Soneblate 500.
There are 2 trials which have been set up to test
the Ablatherm.
One trial began in April 2006 and is testing the Ablatherm
versus cryotherapy as treatment in localized prostate cancer in
men over 60. The trial is being conducted at many medical
centers including Sloan Kettering, the Duke University Medical
Center, and the Cleveland Clinic.
This trial is still recruiting. To view the exclusion

The second Ablatherm trial is no longer recruiting patients.
It is a trial testing Ablatherm as a treatment in recurrent
stage 1 and stage 2 prostate cancer after failed radiation
therapy. This trial began in 1999.
There are a couple of clinical trials also ongoing that are
testing the Sonablate 500. None of these trials are currently
recruiting patients as of July 22, 2008. One of the trials
began in 2007 and is testing the sonablate 500 in the treatment
of localized prostate cancer in patients as young as 40 years
of age.
There is also a phase 4 study to be conducted
in British Columbia, Canada which is not yet recruiting
